my volunteer & adventure trip to Costa Rica, day 5, Playa San Miguel

This is the fifth in a series of posts, one for each day, of an incredible 2-week volunteer & adventure trip to Costa Rica I took in December 2022. I wasn’t sure this trip would happen, but luckily it did.

sunrise beach walk

Some people in the group would get up early every morning & take a walk along the beach. I am not a morning person but did get up early this morning. It was lovely. Very peaceful & quiet, like meditation.

holiday arts & crafts

After breakfast, we headed to a local school to spread some holiday cheer. We, along with the students, got creative with various school supplies to make holiday decorations. It was pretty warm that day, so we were very grateful for the shade we worked in.

After a fun afternoon with some adorable kiddos, we headed back to the station house to watch the sunset & have dinner. Living in a big city, I don’t often see the sunset, so when I get the chance, I try to take advantage of it. I really could get used to this!

last night of turtle patrol

Tonight was our last night of turtle patrol. We were hoping for a repeat of the previous night, but after a few hours of walking up & down the beach, no such luck. Either way, I didn’t mind. I was so grateful for the incredible experience last night, and honestly, I wouldn’t mind just relaxing & gazing up at the huge, endless sky filled with sparkling stars.
