Half Day Oak Park tour – pick an option: walking or driving – $495

Join me as we get out of the Loop to explore the suburb of Oak Park and admire the buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Available by foot and public transportation, or I can rent a car & pick you up from your downtown Chicago hotel (for an additional cost).

Did you know that Oak Park, IL, is home to the world’s largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings and houses?

Oak Park was first settled in 1835 and later incorporated in 1902. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, people fled the city to build in the suburbs. Rapid growth & development was prompted by railroads and streetcars connecting the village to jobs in nearby Chicago.

Just due west of the city, Oak Park is a lovely half-day excursion definitely worth adding to your itinerary, especially if you are a FLW fan.

If you choose to walk:

Meet me at the French Market at the Ogilvie train station: 131 North Clinton (Between Washington and Randolph). Please be prompt, we have a train to catch! Or come early and take your time. This is a great place to peruse all of the vendors and grab a bite before the tour.

We will take the Metra UP-W line to the FLW Home & Studio.

Next, we’ll walk a bit to the FLW Home & Studio and enjoy a guided tour by an FLW docent, then a quick tour of the surrounding neighborhood, followed by a self-guided audio tour of the Unity Temple.

We will return by Metra train.

This tour can accommodate 3 people, and the duration is approx 5 hours. If you have more people in your group, please email me at mimi@toursbycitygirl.com

If you choose to drive: I will rent a car & drive for an additional cost. I’ll pick you up & drop you off at your downtown Chicago hotel. Please email me at mimi@toursbycitygirl.com to confirm you would like me to drive & to confirm the additional cost.

*Please be prepared and dress accordingly. Tours will take place regardless of the weather. Depending on the season, I would suggest layers and possibly an umbrella.
